First Smorgs Trip of 2013

August 25, 2013 by Emily Pergament

FINALLY! We made our first trip to Smorgasburg this year. It’s really unbelievable how fast the summer has gone by and how many weekends we had booked in advance. Anyway, we had some old favorites, like Handsome Hank’s Fish Hut and the salted oatmeal cookies ice cream sandwich from The Good Batch (which is so freaking good, words cannot describe), and here are some new things we tried:

kelvin

A slushy from Kelvin Natural Slush. It was very yummy and refreshing. Their tent is one of the first you see when you enter through the south entrance, which I bet is good for business on hot days. (Btw can you think of a word worse than “slush” or “slushy”? Eww!)

biscuit

A chicken biscuit from BeeHive Oven, and we also got their watermelon cucumber lemonade.

chickenwaffleOur friends Dan and Allie had the fried chicken and cheddar waffle from Buttermilk Channel. Doesn’t that look so good? Apparently, the chicken tastes like it is battered with waffle dough. Maybe I will try that next time.

Did anyone go this year? Are you sticking with old favorites or trying new dishes?

  1. I keep reading about smorgasburg on Serious Eats and wishing that I weren’t such a lazy blob and got up to NY more! Sounds like you had a great time, thanks for sharing 🙂
