Emily: *This is my favorite pizza, but Rob won’t commit to calling it his favorite pizza.

So we went here tonight because we have two Groupons we have to use. We have two Groupons because duh, see above, it’s the best pizza! We started out with the mushrooms bruschetta (the mushrooms were cold, which I wondered about when we ordered it), which was good.

Then, we ordered an 18 inch pizza – half ricotta, mozzarella and pepperoni, and half mozzarella tomato sauce, sausage and peppers. We ordered an 18 inch pizza, but I think they gave us the 27 inch.

  2. Banana oatmeal chocolate chip muffins

I saw this recipe on Pinterest (surprise surprise, where else would I find new things to make), and decided to give it a whirl. I had most of the ingredients anyway, and they sounded somewhat healthy (there’s no flour!).

Check out the recipe. They are pretty easy to make. And if you want to make a healthier version, try adding blueberries or raisins and/or take out the chocolate chips. I would definitely add blueberries next time; I don’t think I’d take out the chocolate chips completely, but I might reduce the amount. Oh yes, and there will be a next time.

Oh great. Leafy greens have just been found to be the leading source of food poisoning, according to this article. Hellooo aren’t we supposed to eat leafy greens because they are really good for you? Just be careful – wash and thoroughly cook your greens before eating them!

Will this news change your eating habits?

  5. Chicken avocado quesadillas

What’s a girl to do with leftover chicken and various cheeses and tortillas in the fridge? Make quesadillas, of course! But first, go buy an avocado.

    Before:

I used large tortillas, pre-cooked chicken, cheddar/jack blend and string cheese, and cooked on the stove in a pan for about six minutes on each side. They were delightfully crispy, but I wish they were spicier. Next time, we’ll get some salsa or hot sauce to add, or use pepper jack cheese.

What do you make with leftover chicken?

  6. Restaurant Week – Blue Smoke

January 27, 2013 by Emily Pergament

How I have never been to Restaurant Week is beyond me. Well, not really. I’ve never been because it’s pretty expensive. It’s $38 for dinner and $25 for lunch (both are available Sunday-Friday). Not every restaurant has a lunch menu, and those that do usually only have Monday-Friday, which obviously I can’t go to. Anyway, I decided I could swing a $25 Sunday lunch, so that is just what I did today. After lots and lots of research, my friend and I decided on Blue Smoke.

  7. Yummy yummy homemade fries

    fries

If only I’d made more! These were so freaking delicious. I pre-heated the oven to 400 degrees. Washed one potato, peeled it, and cut it. Put it on a baking sheet and sprinkled EVOO, salt and pepper. I put them in for 15 minutes at a time, flipping them every time. I’d say I cooked them for about 45 minutes, but they were still a little soggy (just like I like them). I keep reading on Pinterest that if you soak them in cold water beforehand, it will make them crispy when you cook them, but I don’t like the fries to be too crispy.

My grandmother just sent me some additional photos of Christmas Eve in Maryland.

My mom made these cheesecake cupcakes:

cheesecakesI didn’t try them because I don’t like cheesecake or cherries, but I’m sure they were  divine.

And here’s a photo of the table:

Christmas Meal.In the front, there’s curry chicken salad; in the yellow pan, there’s a huge thing of ziti; behind that, there are pigs in a blanket (everyone’s favorite party food); in the crock pot, there are chili sauce and jelly meatballs; then behind the tomatoes/basil/mozz bites, there are these amazing spinach cups. I found them on Pinterest, and shared with my mom. Yummy! Neither of us makes our own bread when we make them – we use Pillsbury dough. I use the pizza crust, and she uses the biscuits. Either way, they’re really good.

PS – Sorry I haven’t updated lately. I was in Miami. Jealous?

*I don’t actually know if this is healthy, but I feel like it is.

OK! I’m excited to post about this. I went to the grocery store to get ingredients to make this, and I also got some things to make this:
