NSFSE (not safe for sensitive eyes)

November 15, 2012 by Emily Pergament

This is hanging in the window of my local butcher.

Actually, there are two of them. I walk by this place everyday to get to and from the subway, but this wasn’t in the window this morning.

I get it when it’s a lamb hanging there before Easter, but… Get your whole baby pig just in time for Thanksgiving? No thanks. I’ll stick with those turkeys on the bottom. Somehow, they don’t bother me as much.

Would you ever buy this?

indulge my soapbox moment for a minute –

I think anyone who can’t stand this sight or the thought of killing and skinning and chopping up what he/she eats 3 times a day shouldn’t eat meat because this is what meat is. Meat comes in animal form. Meat doesn’t come on a styrofoam plate at the grocery store.

I’d absolutely buy this. Because it means that it’s a hell of a lot fresher and more wholesome than the filth that comes from your average slaughterhouse.

I cannot imagine buying this, watching them wrap it, and then having to “carry” it home!
