Can’t wait for fall

September 3, 2012 by Emily Pergament

For the past two years, Rob and I have gone apple picking at Wilkens Farm. I am so excited for fall aka apple picking season! I love the weather and I love getting out of the city, even for a few hours. What should I make the all the apples we pick this year?

We like to go to the pumpkin patch. Maybe this year we will actually make pumpkin pie out of them like we always mean to.

Apple cider is incredible, but I don’t really know how to make it. Can’t go wrong with applie pie either.

    • The past two years, I’ve made an apple crumble served with ice cream – apples mixed with cinnamon, sugar and butter, and a crispy crumbly topping, made with more butter, brown sugar and some flour, I believe. However, we know how I feel about hot fruit, so I’m thinking homemade apple sauce in the crockpot. Eaten cold.

Chunky applesauce is really good and very easy to make.
